Schloss Tegal presents “Kollektiv” Music from the Sanatorium a collection of subculture home taping mail art from the 80s with many heavyweights in the early cassette genre. Kollektiv Compilation was Inspired by compilations like Fur Ilse Koch (Come Organization) and Vhutemas Archetypi (Side Effects). Originally released on the Tegal Records cassette label in 1982. This rare limited edition CD compilation includes lost tracks from the late Minoy who released over 100 cassettes of his unique generative noise. Seiei Jack (Japan) and his Joke Project who are a legend in mail sound art and still active today. Problemist from the early San Francisco industrial scene who opened for Whitehouse’s USA tour. The prolific Maybe Mental which later became the ritual art group Life Garden and Banned Productions which became a huge noise label releasing many cassettes. This Compilation also includes other unknown lost or dead experimental noise artists like LARD, Pink 37 and Room 291. This rare compilation also contains the first recordings of Schloss Tegal, Red Skull, Eupareunia Campaign and of course a guest appearance by cult leader Jim Jones. This compilation is a valuable record of early independent music cassette mail art subculture. Only about 20 cassette copies were ever made and were only distributed to other close contacts. Now with the resurgence of cassette popularity and collectors we are pleased to make this rare unique remastered restored cassette compilation of early industrial and experimental noise available digitally to a new generation.

I cannot praise this album enough. This album is absolutely terrifying! The many starts and stops creates this very h settling tension. Each start expands on the stopper idea previously. It’s like the music equivalent of walking through thick fog while passing out multiple times throughout trying to find a place to orientate yourself. There may or may not be something sinister in that fog, but you don’t want to stick around to find out. Bought the vinyl so I summon the fog demons through spe showhornwithteeth
